visit to New York City where he participated in the New York Conference on the Caribbean along with other CARICOM leaders. The conference, June 19-20, was primarily focused on education and investment, as well as facilitate engagement with the Caribbean Diaspora.
In June 2007, following the First Caricom Heads of Government meeting with a USA president, President George W. Bush, known as Conference on the Caribbean, Brooklyn Borough President, Marty Markowitz, envisioned hosting these Heads of Government in Brooklyn, NY in June 2008 during June Is National Caribbean Heritage Month. Later, at the 28th meeting of CARICOM Heads in July, 2007, Heads of Government met with Congressman Charles Rangel, Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee of the US House to Representatives, and engaged in an exchange of views on a number of issues of interest to the Caribbean Community.? Thus,?both, Brooklyn BP Marty Markowitz and Congressman Charlie Rangel teamed up to host Caricom Heads of Government visit to New York.

CARICOM Consular Corps of New York City and York College, CUNY, proudly present "The Diaspora Forum," an event that will provide a medium for open dialogue between Heads of CARICOM and the Caribbean nationals livings in the New York region.
