Wright, the church's 61-year-old founder, was in critical condition, but speakers reassured congregants Sunday at Grace Tabernacle Christian Center that he was conscious and out of danger. "He shall live," Rev. Frank Williams said. "He has impacted too many people. He has paid some of our rents when he couldn't even pay his own."
Friends and congregation members continue to pray for the recovery of gospel singer Timothy Wright, following the death of a second family member from a head-on car crash on Friday. The accident caused by a driver going the wrong way on a Pennsylvania interstate critically injured the Grammy-nominated Wright and killed co-pastor and wife Betty Wright. Their 14-year-old grandson, D.J. Wright, died Saturday.
Friday’s devastating car crash brought together hundreds of people wanting to pay their respects at yesterday’s memorial service and also pray for their pastor’s quick recovery.
The horrific crash on the eastbound Interstate 80, occurred when wrong-way driver, John Pick, 44, slammed into Wright’s vehicle. Pick was killed at the scene. The Wrights were on their way back from a Church of God in Christ conference in Detroit.
